Gratitude Challenge 2011: Sweet Smiles

With sweet smiles...
...like these,
who WOULDN'T be thankful to teach the
Kindergarten-1st grade Sunday School class?

Gratitude Challenge 2011 Days 25 and 26: Cousins and Christmas "Kick-Off"

Day 25

Who can make you smile bigger...

...than your crazy cousins?

Especially when they...
 ...try to help you find...
 ...your shoe,
which was "eaten" by the
muddy creek
behind your grandparents' house?

 Or when they help you...
 ...entertain the relatives
(and the cat)
with the 2nd annual...

We are so thankful for our cousins!

Day 26

There is nothing that puts me
more in a Christmas mood
then...
...attending the
Fantasy of Trees-
a Knoxville Tradition which raises money
for our local children's hospital.

We loaded up three cars...
...to take all the visiting family.

While we were there,
we enjoyed...
...looking at all the decorated trees...
...riding the carousel...
...decorating Christmas cookies...
 ...and working on Christmas decorations.
NOW we are ready to decorate our OWN home!

I am grateful for a wonderful
Christmas "kick-off"...

Gratitude Challenge 2011 Day 24: Thankful for Thanksgiving!

Today,
in the spirit of the season,
and my blog,
I wanted to wish everyone...
...a SUPER Thanksgiving!

I am thankful for Thanksgiving!

Gratitude Challenge 2011 Days 21, 22, and 23: Modern Conveniences

 I cannot imagine homeschooling without
a few of my favorite
modern conveniences which enable me
to keep up on the housework...

(Well, KINDA keep up with the housework...)

So,
Days 21, 22, and 23
of the
Gratitude Challenge 2011
are dedicated to our...
...Crockpot...
...Dishwasher and...
...my "love-hate" relationship with our
Washing Machine and Dryer.

(It is a "love-hate" relationship because
I LOVE having all the clothes cleaned and put away,
but I HATE that it hardly EVER gets accomplished!)
;0)

Gratitude Challenge Day 20: The 'Hood

Day 20

I LOVE our neighborhood.

Really.

Truly.

Like,
if we won the lottery,
I don't think we would move-
we would just add onto our house
'cause we like it so much here...

************************************

We have a social event every couple of months
in the 'hood,
like the Spring Easter Egg Hunt,
the 4th of July Parade,
and the August Back-to-School Breakfast.

This October,
we encouraged the kiddos to...
...bust out there chalks and get creative
for our 1st annual...
...Concrete Chalk Art Contest.

It kept our kiddos...
...and their friends...
...busy for hours...
...creating masterpieces.
I am thankful for all our happenings in the 'hood!

Gratitude Challenge 2011 Day 19: Solitude Shopping

Day 19

Oh, how I TREASURE time "by myself."

I am a Homeschooling Mama
who LOVES her kiddos,
but given an opportunity to go shopping
WITHOUT the kiddos-
well,
I must say it is nice...

******************************************

This afternoon,
I got to enjoy some "solitude" shopping.

Sure, I was out these with a few hundred
other people,
but not one of them required me to:

1. Escort them to the bathroom
2. Stop them from hitting each other
3. Answer the question,
"Are we almost done yet?"
4. Ignore their pleas for a new toy

It-was-lovely.

Therefore,
I need to give a big old "Thank You" to...
...The Dollar Tree...
...and Target.

Y'all made my afternoon of solitude shopping
a pleasure...

Gratitude Challenge 2011 Day 13 and Day 18: Grandparents and a Good Meal

Day 13

My kiddos have the BEST grandparents
in the WORLD...

Seriously-
they deserve a medal for all that they do
to love on all three of 'em...

Here's just ONE example of
what they do for my kiddos...

************************************
After 4-5 hours in the car,
(this was on our return trip from the
any kiddo gets a little stir crazy.

So what's a better way
to get out some energy than by playing
a rather rowdy game of...
...Dominoes.
(Can you tell the game was a HIGH
on the silly-meter by the look
of Little Wild Man's face in the background?)

Sure...
...Nana and Baby Girl weren't winning much
in the beginning,
but it didn't really matter,
as long as...
...a bit of "wrestling" was allowed
during the games!

See what I mean?

WHO ELSE plays better with
stir-crazy kiddos than their Grandparents-
PRAISE THE LORD!

I am SO GRATEFUL for
Nana, Papa, Marmee, and Grandalf...

*************************************

Day 18

On our return trip home from the Michigan Wedding,
we decided to treat ourselves...
...on our way through Louisville, KY
with a nice "lupper" at...
...Joe's Crab Shack.

Oh, my mouth is watering just talking about their...
...crab dinners!

And with such a...
...kooky atmosphere to dine in,
who wouldn't have a good time?

I was also greatly entertained by the Servers'
Dance Breaks.

It gave Little Wild Man a chance to...
that he learned at the wedding.

Oh yes...
...I am thankful for a good meal...

Gratitude Chellenge 2011 Day 12 and Day 17: Weddings and Dancing

Day 12

Weddings are a time...
...to celebrate together...
...the love of a couple-
To set them off with great fanfare...

...and support as they begin their new life together.

The man said,

“This is now bone of my bones
   and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called ‘woman,’
for she was taken out of man.”

That is why a man leaves his father and mother
and is united to his wife,
and they become one flesh.

(Genesis 2:23-24)
I am so grateful that I got to be apart of
such a joyous wedding...

***********************************************

Day 17

While waiting for the wedding ceremony to start,
I was introduced to the Zumba-styled dance moves of
a man whom we call...
aBc0Y2 on Make A Gif, Animated Gifs
...La Tigre.

Oh-my-word!

I have NEVER been more entertained in my life!
Yes, Auntie Barb,
we are all thankful today for the dancing of
La Tigre,
aren't we?  ;0)

Gratitude Challenge 2011 Day 11 and Day 16: Getting Pampered and Friendship

Day 11: Getting Pampered

As a...
 ...bridesmaid...

(Oh yeah, we had color-coded, labeled shirts
for the Wedding Rehearsal-
is that not AWESOME?)

...I feel it is important to look your best for...
...the Bride.

(I mean, I don't want to be the one to break
the camera's lens during the picture-taking...
I'm just sayin'...)

So the day before the wedding,
most of us "maids" went to the Bride's favorite
nail salon and got...

 ...manis...
...and pedis.
(I LOOOOOOVVVE my pretty flowery toes...)

*********************************************

The day of the wedding,
we met up at the church to get our
hair and make-up done.

What I find funny is that I
was not NEARLY this pampered
for my OWN wedding,
so I enjoyed
EACH-AND-EVERY-SECOND
of all of this...

******************************************

BEFORE...
(Our Hair Dresser had magic hands, I swear!)
...meets...

...AFTER!

As we were getting ready,
BOTH the Hairdresser and Make-Up Artist
commented that we were the easiest group of women
to work with...

I believe that's because NONE of us hardly
EVER "treat" ourselves to ANY kind of
"Spa" treatments-

It-Was-Heavenly!

I am so thankful to have had a
day of pampering...

**********************************************

Day 16

Now,
what is BETTER than a day of pampering?

Spending it with a group of friends...
...both old and new.

I am so grateful for all the friendships that I have in my life...
