Despicable Me 2 Week and Nailed It: Minion Madness

To kick off our week of
Despicable 2
learning fun...
...we went and saw the movie,
of course!

In preparation for the movie,
I gave Baby Girl and her bestie...
...a Minion Madness Manicure.
Using these tools...
...I gave all their nails a coat of
"Minion Yellow"
and then added Minion facial features.
Side note:
DO NOT put clear nail polish
over permanent marker-
it will make the marker bleed,
leaving you to have to redo your manicure-
trust me... ;0)

Yes,
one of the minions has on a mustache,
because he is in disguise...

Monsters University Week and Nailed It: Monster Manicures

This past Saturday,
our family finally went and saw...

It-was-GREAT!!!

My husband said it made him
want to go back to college again-
and I agree.

After completing a week full of
Monsters university activities
in anticipation of seeing the movie,
it did not leave us disappointed.

(You can see all the monstrous fun we had
by clicking HERE...)

Before going to the movie,
I gave Baby Girl
a new Mani/Pedi...
...inspired by the big guy himself,
James P. Sullivan,
aka Sulley.

All of her nails were painted a lovely bright shade of blue
to match Sulley's fur.
On both of her ring fingers,
I added purple polka dots,
and sprinkled them with purple glittery flocking
to mimic the pattern on Sulley's fur.
(She is too cute to be scary,
don't ya think?)

After seeing the movie,
I was inspired to give myself and mani/pedi...
...based on the color scheme of the movie.

With a base coat of Mike Wazowski-type green,
a layer of goldy-yellow reminiscent of
and a stripe of purple as a nod to Sulley,
I think my nails screamed Monsters University...

If you decide to give yourself a
monstrous manicure,
a book I highly recommend reading
while you are waiting for your nails to dry is...
illustrated by
Harley Jessup.
This beautifully illustrated lift-the-flap book
kept ALL of my kiddos attention...
...including my 11 year old!

Now,
I must warn you...
...wearing monster manicures
can leave you in the mood...
...to get your scare on-
but beware!

You might just...
...get scared yourself!  ;0)

Nailed It: Girlie-Girl Style

I have a couple of girls
in my life
who love glitter and pink and sparkles.
Yes,
both Baby Girl and Girlie V
love to be girlie.

But please do not let those sweet smiles fool you.

They also like to get in the mud
and climb trees
and play ball with the boys-
but they just prefer to have their nails done
before they get messy.  ;0)

So we did nails the other day-
girlie-girl style...

*******************************

Girlie V
(age 3)
chose a pretty purple shade...
...and I added a little pink heart
to one of her thumbs.

*************************************

Baby Girl
(age 8)
chose a shade of bright pink
and aqua blue...

...which we set in a wave pattern
using french tip manicure stickers
found HERE.

Sugar and spice,
and everything nice-
that's what little girls are made of!

Tuesday

Nailed It: Pretty in Pink

This past week I have been wearing
a look I like to call...
...Pretty in Pink.
Using pink polish and
Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips...
...I believe I obtained a look that was rather "mod."

I LOVE the nail strip kit!
It comes with all the supplies you need to apply
the stickers
and is so easy to use.

I look forward to trying out more nail strips in the future...

Sunday

Nailed It: Electric Blue

Painted my nails this lovely shade of
Electric Blue this past week...

It matched up lovely with this fun
statement necklace
I had ordered a little while back
from GroopDealz.

Oh,
and I can't WAIT to try out a fun find
from
The Dollar Tree
sometime this week...
Nail Sparkles!

Eek!  :0)

Wednesday

Nailed It: Black and White

I have recently been inspired by
to get creative again...
...with my nails.

Kaylah does AMAZING nail art,
(wish you can read all about HERE)
and I have been inspired.

I have a lot to learn,
but it has been a lot of fun to play.

For these nails,
I applied white polish over all of the nail.

Then when the nails were completely dry,
to the bottom of the nails.

I painted over the white nail polish with black polish,
stopping at the top of the sticker.

When the black was dry,
I removed the sticker...
...and was left with this pattern.

It ain't perfect...
...but it is funky-
and I can't wait to try something new
again soon!
