Thursday

4th of July Fun in the 'Hood

Every 4th of July,
our neighborhood hosts a little "parade"...
...with ice cream and water games afterwards.

********************************************

The kiddos and I got all dressed up...
...in our patriotic garb.
Jungle Girl chose to walk our
"patriotic polka-dotted pooch,"
Lady,
in the parade...
...while the younger kiddos rode their
decorated scooters.

********************************************

Many families participated in the parade...
...with various forms of transportation.

**********************************************

After "marching" down the main rode of the 'hood,
we met at the end culdesac for...
...ice cream!
Yummmmmmmm!!!

**********************************************

After ice cream,
we met in the common area for some fun!
There were hula-hoops and bouncy balls to play with...
...as well as water balloons.

But the "star attraction" of the day was
the dunking booth.

The kiddos that wanted took turns being dunked
by other kiddos
(and parents!)...
(Some of them OBVIOUSLY liked it more than others...
I hope Little Wild Man will enjoy it more next year!)

*****************************************

By 12:30,
we had all the mess cleaned up
and were collapsed on the couch,
enjoying the air conditioning...

Ahhhhhh...

We hope y'all had a lovely
Independence Day, too!

Sunday

Fireworks on a Stick

Here's how we snacked
at home for the 4th...

We ate some
"Fireworks on a Stick"

To create this
SUPER easy, SUPER yummy recipe,
you will need:

Pretzel rods
Marshmallow cream
Sprinkles

Take a pretzel rod
and dip it into the marshmallow cream.
Cover the cream with some sprinkles.
Eat and Enjoy!

Now it's off to enjoy the fireworks...

Parade Polish...

In our neighborhood,
every year there is a
4th of July Parade...

Last year was our 1st time
to participate,
and we had so much fun...

...making T-shirts and pop-poms...
...and decorating our vehicles for the big event.

****************************************

This year, well, things were a little different...

Both Baby Girl and Little Wild Man
"caught" some kind of virus,
which lead to fevers, sore throats,
and a couple of rough nights of sleep.

So, on Saturday morning,
(the parade was on July 3rd
this year since the 4th fell on a Sunday)...
...Jungle Girl and her pal Eep
left for the parade...
...leaving behind a very sad Baby Girl.

Guess what lighten the mood?

Nail polish, of course!

(Side Note: I LOVE the "Stripe Rite"
nail polish-
The brush in the bottle is very thin,
making decorating nails a breeze!
I purchased ours at a local "Sally Beauty" store.)

While the parade was rounding the curb...
...Baby Girl was getting her "Stars and Stripes" on!
We celebrated the parade as spectators this year,
watching all the kiddos display their patriotic pride......while on their scooters and bikes...
...skateboards...
...and bare feet!
Little Wild Man
rode his Big Wheel
in our driveway in support of the big day...
...and enjoyed some new Silly Bands
instead of having a mani and a pedi.

*********************************

Final results of the makeover?
Polka dotted fingers...
...and striped toes!

And did Wonder Mom get in on the fun?
OF COURSE!!!
This pedicure matches my Under-Roos perfectly...
