Holidrama...

Yesterday, I read...
...Llama Llama Holiday Drama
by
Anna Dewdney.

Her Llama Llama stories always crack us up...

*******************************************

To continue the Holiday Drama Fun......we created wreaths for the kiddos' doors...
...using glue...
...jewels...
...and paints.

******************************************

Later, for lunch...
We had Ramen Noodles with peas...
...in the shape of wreathes...
...and some Candy Cane colored
(NOT flavored)
Kool-aid.

It's ALWAYS dramatic...
...when my kiddos...
...eat Ramen Noodles!

O Christmas Tree...

Today was an evergreen kinda day...

I read...
...The Pine Tree Parable
by
Liz Curtis Higgs
to the kiddos today.

Then, we played...
..."Draw a Christmas Tree,"
which can be found by clicking HERE.
The best part of the game was when the kiddos
rolled the number six...
...and had to sing a Christmas Carol!

(At first, Little Wild Man was the only one who
would sing,
but the girls finally loosened up and
joined in the fun...)
This is Jungle Girl's tree,
all decorated for Christmas....

**************************************************

Later in the day,
using inspiration I took from
Little Page Turners...
...and Crayola's Window Markers...
...I "set up" trees on the windows
for the kiddos to decorate.
(We will be decorating tomorrow,
since the kiddos got distracting watching
"The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe"
on DisneyXD...)

*****************************************

During the movie,
we all enjoyed...
...some Rice Krispie Christmas Tree snacks.

A sweet way to end the day...

Sunday

Holiday Cheer in Sunday School

Just thought I'd give you a mini-tour
of our Sunday School classroom
to show you what brings me
Holiday Cheer
today...
This is the white board,
where I typically put the day's
Bible point/Memory verse.

I chalked these little kiddos during
my public school teaching days-
they are from some scrapbooking stickers I had.

(I really enjoy chalking...)
This little guy is on the front door to our
classroom-
the names of all the kiddos in the class are on
the ornaments in which he has tangled himself up in...
We also have a few ornaments the kiddos have made
hanging up in the classroom-
on Bible Alive! Tuesday I will post more about
these sweet little angels...

I just LOVE getting decorated for the holidays!

Saturday

Good-Bye Sleepover- Christmas Style...

Friday evening,
we hosted a sleepover for...
...one of Jungle Girl's bestest buds.

They have known each other since birth,
gone to church together,
went to preschool together, etc.

Now, she and her family are leaving for Florida-
FOREVER-
in less than two weeks.

We had to send her off with a bang,
so we hosted a sleepover......with all the girls
she has gone to church with since being
in the nursery.

As you can see,
this is quite the energetic bunch...

***************************************************

So, to "channel" that energy,
we started off the evening with a simple craft...
Using the tutorial I found HERE over at the
Crafty Crow...
...the girls each painted......their own egg carton pieces...
...which I later "transformed" into
a Christmas Flower Ornament.
I wrote the year and each of the
girls' names on all the leaves
of the flower,
so they all had a nice little memory
to take home from the sleepover.

**********************************************

After supper...
...the girls got all bundled up to go see...
...some Christmas lights.
One of our local parks hosted a community event
to celebrate the season.

There were several free activities to participate in,
so the lines ended up being pretty long.

Waiting in the cold with five
energetic 8 and 9 year old girls
can be a bit of a challenge,
bu they proved themselves to be troopers...

While waiting in line for the carriage ride
around the park...
...the girls found creative ways
to keep themselves entertained.
(They are posing here as "Green" Recycling Angels
with free Frisbees they received at the event...)

After about an hour in line...
...we FINALLY got to go on our horse-guided park tour.

(May I interject here that the only girl crying
throughout this entire "gruesome" wait
was our own daughter.
Is it just me,
or do ALL children seem
to behave better for ANYBODY ELSE
other than their own parents?)

But, I digress...Back to the lights...

During the horse ride,
the girls' spirits picked up again,
and my husband and I got to listen to silly tales
about elves and pirates and dolphins...
Don't ask...

***********************************************

After the park adventure...
...we headed home to watch...
...Santa Paws.
(REALLY cute family film)

I hope this was a good send off for you...
...dear friend.

stART: "Olive the Other Reindeer" by J.otto Seibold and Vivian Walsh

OK, before I write about what we did today with
Advent/stART,
I need to introduce you to...
...the three special dogs in our lives.

(I think y'all have figured out by now that I do not
use our real names on my blog,
but I am not as worried about protecting
my precious pups' anonymity,
so the names I am listing ARE their REAL names.)

Please meet...
...Snuggles...
...Lady...
...and, our newest addition, Schroeder.

(We have taken him in for my brother,
which thrills my kiddos,
because now they each feel like they have
their OWN dog.
I will NEVER have a clean house again...
*SIGH*)

************************************************

Now that you have met our four-legged friends,
you will understand why we just adore the story of...
...Olive, the Other Reindeer
so much.

After I read the story to the kiddos,
we enjoyed some
Reindeer Chow
for a bedtime snack...

It's SUCH an easy recipe...
Take 6 cups of Crispix-type cereal and put it in a bowl.
Melt 1 cup of peanut butter
and 12 oz of chocolate chips together
on the stove using low heat.
Pour the slightly cooled pb-chocolate sauce
over the cereal and stir it lightly to coat.

Wait 5-10 minutes and then...
...put about one cup of powdered sugar on the cereal.

Shake the cereal in a bag
(or a bowl with a lid like I did)
until the cereal is coated with powdered sugar.
Stash some of the treat away in your
Christmas Cookie Jar...
...and enjoy the rest before bedtime.
Our ever-present four-legged pals
wanted some too...
...but we made sure
to keep it away from them.

(Chocolate + Dogs = No Good!!!)
Reindeer Chow gets us all waggin' our tales...
