Works for Me Wednesday: I'm Packin' Clothes, not Heat...

I am ALMOST DONE
with
Pack Palooza 2010...

The girls and I are getting ready
to go to church camp next week.

Little Wild Man will be headed north
to spend the week with his Nana and Papa
while Super Dad hangs back at home.

This results in a need for organization...

Something I have NOT been great at
(when it comes to packing)
in the past...
So I am trying out a new "system,"
AND I am not waiting until the last minute...

What a CONCEPT...
I am calling this "system"
"Packing a Roll,"
which reminds me of toilet paper...

Anyways,
all I am using is BIG rubber bands
and complete sets of outfits...
First, I laid out the longest item of
clothing on my bed,
which happens to the the shirts
since we will be wearing shorts all week.
I then layer the rest of the outfit's
bigger items onto the shirt...
...like so.
Then I fold in any of the shirt
that is "overhanging"
to create a nice rectangle shape.
I then add in the outfit's smaller items,
like my ESSENTIAL bandanna.
I then begin to roll all the clothing up lengthwise...
...to create a long "tube."
Next, I roll up the clothes...AGAIN...
...and bind the bundle with a big old rubber band.
Now, when the kiddos and I need an outfit
for the day,
we will just grab a roll and go!

Snack Time Solutions

"Mommy, I'm HUNGRY..."

"What can I have to eat?"

"R-e-a-l-l-y, I'M STARVING..."

Do y'all ever get SICK of feeding your family?

Well, I have to admit, I do sometimes...

Snack time has been a struggle in our house as of late,
so when I was at the Dollar Tree a couple of weeks ago,
I believe I had some divine inspiration...

I saw these cute animal containers in the baby aisle, and,
(after wishing I had a baby I could use them with),
I thought they would be PERFECT for
snacks at our house...

Each kiddo gets their own animal...
The Koala Bear is for Jungle Girl...
The Giraffe is for Baby Girl...
The Puppy is for Little Wild Man...

Each child gets 4 animal containers a day,
each filled with a different snack.

I place them all in the bottom drawer of our fridge,
along with a couple other goodies that won't fit in the containers,
such as fruit, cheese sticks, yogurt, etc.

They each have a water bottle to "quench" their
little parched throats...

Then, the kiddos have the "power" to choose
what snack they want to eat,
how many they want to eat it,
and when they want to eat them.

They know that when that drawer is empty,
that's it.

No more snacks for the day.

They ALSO know if they lose a container,
they have less snacks for the next day.

It's working, so far...

How do YOU all solve snack time problems?
