Monsters University Week: Monster Meals and Tasty Treats

Now what would a
Monsters University Theme Week
BE
without...
...foodie fun?

I tried to provide either a
Monstrous meal
or snack
everyday during
our week-
and here they are in the order
we ate them...

:0)

(Idea via HERE)

(The Monster student ID cards were from the back
of the Mac 'n Cheese boxes.)

(I "attached" the candy eyeballs to the grapes
with Cool Whip.)

****************************************

("Fuzzy" toothpicks were from The Dollar Tree.)

(These Monster cut outs were from the
back of the Cheez-Its box.)

This snack is what I like to call
"Mike Wazowski in a Cup."
It is just green jello
with an Oreo and chocolate chip on top...

********************************************

Monstrous Mocktails
were on the snack menu one afternoon...
...along with MU Fruit Snacks.

To make the drink...
...freeze whatever flavor of Kool-Aid you would like
into ice cube trays...
...and pour Sprite on top of them.
Make certain to serve the beverage with
three straws,
since some monsters are known to have
three mouths... ;0)

I do believe my little "monsters'
enjoyed all of the fun food from out week!

Monsters University Week and Nailed It: Monster Manicures

This past Saturday,
our family finally went and saw...

It-was-GREAT!!!

My husband said it made him
want to go back to college again-
and I agree.

After completing a week full of
Monsters university activities
in anticipation of seeing the movie,
it did not leave us disappointed.

(You can see all the monstrous fun we had
by clicking HERE...)

Before going to the movie,
I gave Baby Girl
a new Mani/Pedi...
...inspired by the big guy himself,
James P. Sullivan,
aka Sulley.

All of her nails were painted a lovely bright shade of blue
to match Sulley's fur.
On both of her ring fingers,
I added purple polka dots,
and sprinkled them with purple glittery flocking
to mimic the pattern on Sulley's fur.
(She is too cute to be scary,
don't ya think?)

******************************************

After seeing the movie,
I was inspired to give myself and mani/pedi...
...based on the color scheme of the movie.

With a base coat of Mike Wazowski-type green,
a layer of goldy-yellow reminiscent of
and a stripe of purple as a nod to Sulley,
I think my nails screamed Monsters University...

**************************************

If you decide to give yourself a
monstrous manicure,
a book I highly recommend reading
while you are waiting for your nails to dry is...
illustrated by
Harley Jessup.
This beautifully illustrated lift-the-flap book
kept ALL of my kiddos attention...
...including my 11 year old!

*******************************************

Now,
I must warn you...
...wearing monster manicures
can leave you in the mood...
...to get your scare on-
but beware!

You might just...
...get scared yourself!  ;0)

Monsters University Week: Slime and Flashlight Play

Today was a good day for...
...slime!

What other substance is better fitting
for a Monsters University themed week?

So,
after I read...
by
Jos. A. Smith
to the kiddos,
I gave them each a little bit of...
...slime to play with.

(I gotta thank
for the recipe for the slime...)

************************************

Later in the day,
I read the kiddos another couple of books...
...Oliver and the Monsters
by
Tony Blundell
and...
...There's a Nightmare in my Closet
by
Mercer Mayer.

Since both of these books
discuss how a kiddo
confronted his fear of monsters,
I decided to let the kiddos decorate
 a flashlight-
a flashlight that will keep them
safe from all those monsters that hide
in the shadows...

(You can see how we decorated them
by looking at my
Father's Day Flashlights post.)

(He is SUCH a goof ball!)

************************************

Well,
tomorrow afternoon is
THE
day-
we will see
Monsters University!

I have a couple more posts
coming up about more
Monster themed fun,
but if you want to see all of the other activities we
have been doing this week until then,
just click HERE...
