Boy, Oh Boy!

Boys...

Friday

Welcome to McHockman's- May I Take Your Order?

This is
"Dance Madness" Week
for our family.

Both of our girls
will perform five different times
(Thursday-Saturday),
and with extra rehearsals,
they are at the Carousel Theater
for five days this week.

Since they do not get to eat supper until
after their performance,
I needed to find a fun and inexpensive way
to keep...
...my beautiful girls satisfied
after all their hard work.

Enter...
...The McHockman Happy Meal.

I already had some chicken nuggets in the fridge,
so after running to the store
to purchase some fries
(on sale),
I was able to put together a homemade Happy Meal
with supplies that were lying around the house.

I wanted to give them their fries with
fast food flair,
so I created some packaging with the use of
card stock, stickers, and markers.
First, I took half a sheet of card stock
and laid it horizontally in front of me.
Then I folded up one of the corners
towards the middle of the card stock.
I folded the other side in the same manner.
After folding up the a bottom section
to close off the container...
...I placed a labeling sticker to seal it closed.
After filling the container with fries,
it was ready to go into the happy meal...
...along with some chicken nuggets, ketchup, water,
yogurt, smarties, napkins...
...and a prize,
of course!
Here they are...
...packed and ready...
...to fill up some bellies...
...and bring out some smiles!

"Lemonade Mouth" Crafty Fun

Whenever I host a party at my house,
there just has to be some crafty fun-
it's required.

So, here are the couple of crafty activities
the kiddos participated during our
"Lemonade Mouth" Movie Premier night...

******************************************

First, we dressed up like rock stars...
...by using old T-shirt collars/strips.
The boys
were more into being Ninjas than rock stars...
(no surprise there)
...but the girls struck a
"Rock Star" pose for the camera.

****************************************

The other craft the kiddos put together
during the evening was
"Lemon Rock 'n Rollers"....
We used the following supplies:

Lemons
Tissue paper
Markers
Tape

First, take a sheet of tissue paper...
(about 24" x 6.5")
...and fold it in half.
Place the tissue paper over a lemon...
...and twist the sides of the tissue paper...
...to form a dome.
Take off the tissue dome and tape the sides.
Put the dome back on the lemon...
...and use the markers to give it some personality.

Then, you are ready to "rock 'n roll!"
By placing the lemon on a flat surface,
you can gently push it and watch your creation...
...wobble and roll all over the place!

Saturday

Lemonade Mouth Movie Premire

Friday night was BIG night at our house...
The Disney Channel's
"Lemonade Mouth"
premiered!

It's kinda like
"Breakfast Club" meets "High School Musical."
A group of teens meet in detention,
form a band,
form close friendships,
fight "the man,"
etc.

I must say,
(and no one is paying me to say this)
this is the best Disney Channel
"tween" flick they have produced by far...

*************************************

To celebrate the premier,
we held our own
"Premier Party"
by inviting a few friends over for
to watch the movie and have a sleepover....
"Lemonade Mouth" posters
(I pulled some clip art off the Internet to create them)
greeted the guests at the door...
The mantel was decorated with of lemons...
...and sour-sweet candies.
(Lemonheads and Sour Starburst Jellybeans)
And of course
there were "swag bags" for all attendees.

******************************************

Before the movie started,
we did a couple of activities...
We dressed ourselves up
like
"Rock Stars."
We also gave our lemons some personality...
...and watched them rock 'n roll!

*************************************************

Then, we grabbed some popcorn
and Lemon-Berry Slushes,
gave everyone comfy spaces on the couches...
...and watched
"Lemonade Mouth!"

*************************************************

I think fun was had by all!

Friday

Cookies and Kitties

The kiddos and I spent Thursday afternoon
over at Knit Wit's house...
I brought Lemon-Iced Cookies to nosh on...

*************************************************

Tiger
provided the entertainment...
...with her two-day old kittens.
A big ball of cuddly cuteness..
What a lovely afternoon...

Tag, I'm It!

Ooooo, I have been "tagged" by Almost Unschoolers.
Well, I MUST participate, 'cause I never pass up
an opportunity to play, so here are my answers
to some pretty interesting questions:

1. What is your favorite children's book of all time?

WOW- that is a HARD one, but I would have to say
An Invitation to the Butterfly Ball
by Jane Yolen.

I can still quote it:

"One little mouse, in great distress,
looks all over for a floor-length dress.
If she can't find one, smaller than small,
Then she can't go to the Butterfly Ball."

2. What is it that you like most about where you live?

Besides having my family and best friend in the area,
I LOVE our Smokey Mountains...
that's probably why Autumn is my
favorite season...

3. What is it that you like least about where you live?

Most DEFINITELY our humidity in the summer!
(I sweat like a pig!)

4. Do you have any special fall traditions?

My parents and I would always make
pumpkin sugar cookies around Halloween,
and decorate them with silly icing faces-
I hope to carry this on with my kiddos...

5. What is your favorite holiday, and why?

Christmas- I just love everything about it!

6. Do you still eat sugary kid's breakfast cereals? Do you have a favorite?

Every now and again I do-
My FAV is Cinnamon Toast Crunch!

7. If you could pick any age to stay at (teens, 20's, 30's, 100's), which age would it be?

Probably the time when I was in my early 20's-
I just LOVED being in college...
(and that's where I met my husband!)

8. What do you enjoy most, and least about blogging?

I really enjoy getting to know other people
from all around the world-
It still amazes me the connections I
have made with such amazing people!

My least favorite thing?
Hmmmmmm....
I would say that I let it take up too
much of my time sometimes...
Like now...
I should be in bed...

Oh well...

Perhaps I will be tagging one of you
soon...
