Wednesday

What I Wore Wednesday: I am REALLY gonna try this...YIKES!!!

I recently stumbled upon
a weekly link up
that I am HOPING will
improve my self grooming/health skills...

"what i wore wednesday"
over on the Pleated Poppy
has you taking a picture of yourself daily
and posting your outfits for the week
on her link up...

Typically...
I look like this on a daily basis.

(I am sporting the feather duster
because I have been cleaning-
A LOT- as of late...)

No make up, hair pulled back,
sporting whatever is slouchy and comfortable.

I'm not saying I am UGLY or UNCLEAN,
but I used to dress a lot nicer.

And I have a few cute clothes still,
so why not give this a go?

I am HOPING this will also help me shed
a few pounds-
taking a picture of yourself daily makes you
FACE the reality of how you have let yourself go.

And, I have.

I am NOT doing this to "impress" anyone else but me.

I know when I feel better physically,
I am nicer to everyone around me.

I seem to have more to give when I take a little more time for me.

Now, that may sound so egocentric,
but I believe I am coming at this from a more
spiritual place...

"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit,
who is in you, whom you have received from God?
You are not your own; you were bought at a price.
Therefore honor God with your body."
(1 Corinthians 6: 19-20)

This passage from Corinthians is focusing on
being sexually pure with your body,
but I believe I can see this also being applied to other areas
of my life.

I have NOT taken care of my "temple" in the manner
that best honors the Spirit as of late,
and I want to change that.

Will this happen overnight?

Oooohhhh no.

But I do believe it can happen.

With prayer and hard work.

Now, I am going to PROUDLY
post this picture of myself for the world to see,
and I hope my picture a year from now looks different.

  1. I would be so embarrassed to post a picture of myself right now...ummm, Here's your sign!

I really should challenge myself as well!

Here is a big dollop of congrats and good luck!

  2. You are so brave! You know what? I would never be able to do that because the host of that site is so darned cute and SKINNY. Who has a body like that at my age? On the other hand, I think it is amazing what a cute outfit can do. I can remember when I first joined BHEA 10 years ago, and I swear all the moms really did wear denim jumpers or sweat pants ALL THE TIME! I was like, Are you KIDDING me? I refused to fall into THAT stereotype!

And our couch to 5K program goes on every Tues. and Thurs mornings 8 a.m. at Springbrook park. You can start ANY time--there is always someone new!

  4. This looks like fun! And your pic is adorable!!

I've been doing lots of cleaning lately too, and it all gets un-done by my two year old about 2 seconds later. **sigh** So frustrating!

  7. This is a great idea. I agree that sometimes dressing like we care helps us to actually care. I often wonder how I got into the habit of doing virtually nothing to care for myself.
Stick with it and don't give up... you can do it!

  9. Sounds like fun to me! I have to find the time, AND the courage, AND a sunny enough day to take pictures with the horrible camera I own; but I'd like to participate sometime too! AT one point I found I could not stand the clutter bursting out of my dresser drawers, and found myself disgusted with all the frumpy, battered old hobo clothes I had accumulated! Sure, there are days where I actually LIKE wearing them, but not USUALLY! They DON'T make me feel GOOD about myself. So, that was a little bit of an A-HA moment.. Life's too short! Dress up everyday!.. Well, as much as you can anyways! I don't wear pearls and high heels for housecleaning either, so you HAVE to hang on to a FEW hobo clothes! ~tina
