In one of our Science lessons this week,
we looked at several different machines
and discussed how they worked...
One of the machines was an airplane,so we had to learn about
the Bernoulli Principle to understand
how a plane works better...
Now, I have done the following experiment
when I was teaching in the public school system,
but, using a suggestion from Almost Unschoolers,
I think the experiment turned out even better...
All we used was a hairdryerand some balloons...
We took turns holding the hair dryerstraight up in the air,
and letting balloons float in the dryer's
air stream...
We started with one balloon...
...then added two...
..and finally ended with three balloonsin the air...
I believe the kiddos could have done this for hours...For more fun with science,

ReplyDeleteI certainly would have done it for hours. If I show my kids this they're never going to leave my hair dryer alone, but then it might actually get some use......
ReplyDeleteThis is a fun experiment. We have a floor heater, and we had fun watching balloons dance in the stream of warm air, but I didn't think about using a hair dryer for it.
