Snack Time Solutions

"Mommy, I'm HUNGRY..."

"What can I have to eat?"

"R-e-a-l-l-y, I'M STARVING..."

Do y'all ever get SICK of feeding your family?

Well, I have to admit, I do sometimes...

Snack time has been a struggle in our house as of late,
so when I was at the Dollar Tree a couple of weeks ago,
I believe I had some divine inspiration...

I saw these cute animal containers in the baby aisle, and,
(after wishing I had a baby I could use them with),
I thought they would be PERFECT for
snacks at our house...

Each kiddo gets their own animal...
The Koala Bear is for Jungle Girl...
The Giraffe is for Baby Girl...
The Puppy is for Little Wild Man...

Each child gets 4 animal containers a day,
each filled with a different snack.

I place them all in the bottom drawer of our fridge,
along with a couple other goodies that won't fit in the containers,
such as fruit, cheese sticks, yogurt, etc.

They each have a water bottle to "quench" their
little parched throats...

Then, the kiddos have the "power" to choose
what snack they want to eat,
how many they want to eat it,
and when they want to eat them.

They know that when that drawer is empty,
that's it.

No more snacks for the day.

They ALSO know if they lose a container,
they have less snacks for the next day.

It's working, so far...

How do YOU all solve snack time problems?

As per Ticia from Adventures in Mommydom,
I have linked up to
Works for Me Wednesday,
where you can find other solutions to the little annoyances in your life...

  2. Great idea! I have little baskets labeled with their names in the fridge then they pick a snack out of their baskets. I picked up those Tiger ones awhile back. They are sooo cute.

  5. Don't you just love Dollar Tree? This is a great suggestion. My youngest (7) is always hungry and wanting me to get him a snack. I will be visiting Dollar Tree real soon!

  6. I heard of this trick on Supernanny once, and wanted to try it but forgot all about it. Thanks for sharing, I might have to give it a try!

When my kids keep bugging me for snacks, I usually make them a fruit or veggie plate "buffet style" and leave it on the table. They just keep munching on it little by little, and if they are not hungry anymore by dinner time, I don't mind because I know they filled up on fruits and veg, so that's good enough for me :)
