Laundry LOVE...

I hate doing the laundry.

Well, perhaps "hate" is too strong of a word...

But it IS my least favorite chore.

So, when I put together a batch of
Home Made Laundry Detergent
(this is a GREAT tutorial from Homestead Blogger)
a couple days ago,
I must say....

I feel the need to pat myself on the back.

(I really like the look and smell of
Fels Naptha Soap...I am so strange...)
I went to Goodwill to purchase a pot
I could make my detergent and other cleaners in...
I hope the good people of
Erin Presbyterian Church
know that I have put it to good use...

Final results of my efforts...

5 full bottles of laundry detergent!!!

YAHOO!!!

P.S. I know some people have problems finding the correct supplies to make
the laundry detergent,
but I really had no problem.
All of the supplies were at our local Kroger.

However, if you can't get them in your area,
here are some websites you can purchase them from:

Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda
20 Mule-team Borax
Fels Natha Soap

  1. What do you think of the homemade soap? We tried it about a year ago, and did some laundry challenges against a store brand, and Tide - Tide won hands down, so now I just look for coupons. Laundry is bad enough, but doing the laundry, and not getting the clothes clean, would be a double insult.

  2. I've had all the supplies to make my own laundry soap for months now, but haven't done it yet! I've got to give it a try!!!

  3. Well, I think Tide perhaps gets the clothes whiter, but I found the clothes passed the "smell-my-husband's-shirts'-arm-pits" test with flying colors...sorry to be so graphic...

I think when I do the whites, I will add a bit of Oxyclean or bleach, but other than that, I am pretty pleased. But, keep in mind, I am not a fanatic about laundering clothes...as long as we smell clean, I am pretty content!
