Tortilla Snowflakes

Last night, it snowed...
(Now, I know my friends from the North
will scoff at this amount of snow,
but the is the most snow
we have had in K-town since 1996!)

So, after playing for, oh,
maybe 30 minutes outside,
the kiddos needed hot chocolate and a snack.

What would be better than Tortilla Snowflakes on a day like this?

Now, I believe this recipe has been on the
Family Fun website
and on
Confessions of a Homeschooler,
but here's how I handled it...
Gather up all your supplies:
Whole Wheat Tortillas
Melted Butter
Powdered Sugar
Cookie Sheet
(and a pair of CLEAN Kitchen Scissors!)

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.

Put one of the tortillas in the oven for 10 seconds.
Now that it's nice and pliable,
fold it in half...
and then again...
and again until you have a triangle shape.
Grab those scissors
and cut out designs like you would
for a paper snowflake.
Unfold the tortilla carefully
and place it on the cookie sheet.
Brush some melted butter onto the tortilla
and bake in the oven for 3-4 minutes,
depending upon how crispy you like your tortillas.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar
and your snow time snack is ready to eat!

(And the best thing is, no two are exactly alike!)

  3. Yay for snow! We had even more fun today since it was sunny. (Well, the baby still cried.)

These look so yummy and I love that you didn't fry them.
