Bible Alive!: Peace in the Dark, Part II

We all get scared sometimes.

On Tuesday evening,
the kiddos and I discussed things that
we are scared of...
...tornadoes...
...roller coasters...
...and the dark
are just a few of our fears.

**********************************************

After discussing our fears,
I then talked to the kiddos about how it is OK
to be scared sometimes,
but when we are frightened,
we need to turn to the one true God for
PEACE.

We read John 14:27, which says:

"Peace I leave with you;
my peace I give you.
I do not give to you as the world gives.
Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
"

So, drive this point home,
we had a bit of
"scary fun"
in the dark.

First, I had the kiddos stand for a bit...
(Our Lady pup wanted in on the fun too!)

...in our laundry room...without the lights on,
which is one of the darkest rooms in our home.

After experiencing the dark,
I went back in the Laundry room
and set out...
...some glow in the dark eggs
I had stowed away from
after Easter sales.
Here's the best picture I could get
of the eggs glowing.

Trust me-
they really did work!

Anyways...
I hid the eggs throughout the Laundry Room...

(PLEASE excuse the mess!)
...and then the kiddos went back in...
...to look for the eggs.

************************************************

After the egg hunt was over...
...and the kiddos were checking out their treats,
we continued our discussion about
peace.

Now, the girls did not find going into the dark room
too scary...
...but Little Wild Man did.

I saw him chewing his nails before he went to get
his eggs-
a sure sign of nerves.

So, I re-emphasized the point that
whenever we feel afraid,
talk to God about it,
and he will give us peace amidst the storms
of life...

  3. What a great find! Princess loves to quote "When I am afraid I can talk to God," I'm not sure exactly where she picked that up, probably "from church Mom."
