Santa's Helpers Strike Again...

****SPOILER ALERT TO ALL THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS WE GIVE GIFTS TO****

The kiddos make something for all of our friends and family every year, and this year I decided they would make Salt Dough Ornaments.

The recipe I used was as follows:

Salt Dough

Ingredients:
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 cup salt
1 package of any flavored Kool-Aid (or, in our case, the Aldi version- "Mixaide")
2 cup of cold water

Directions:
Combine the dry ingredients. Slowly add the water in and stir it to the consistency* you want. Knead the dough, roll it out on a floured surface, and you are ready for the cookie cutters!

*I found that the dough was too sticky, so as I kneaded it, I added flour until it felt right.

We made two batches, one a lemon-lime green, and another a tropical punch pink.

Little Wild Man will be giving his peeps green Christmas trees...
Baby Girl will be handing out pink stockings...
Since Jungle Girl is our eldest, and quite the crafty kid, I wanted her to do something more challenging than the cookie cutters.
She made candy cane out of dough "snakes!"
To make the ornament holes, use a straw.
Now to let these little buggers dry overnight...

  3. Love these! They are great! You don't need to bake them at all?

  4. Weeelllll Sherry, I have been baking them a bit! I let them dry overnight and then put in batches on my pizza pans at 200 degrees for, well, a few hours. Otherwise, I am assuming they would dry out in a few days.

We have had A LOT of rain here, and I think all that humidity has S-L-O-W-E-D down the process.
